Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

This concept shows how people interact with their neighbours. Many people have little to no interaction with their neighbours each day. Considering these people live so close to each other and see each other regularly, this is quite surprising. In rural areas and country towns, neighbours tend to interact with each other more than in the city. They help each other out and catch up occasionally, this community spirit just isn’t the same in larger cities. This campaign will aim to get people talking to each other. It will make people think about who their neighbours are and it will encourage them to get to know each other

What kind of communication approach do you use?

This design has a fairly unobtrusive approach. The idea is to make people stop and think about people they see and who they might be. It aims to encourage people to talk to their neighbours

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

It will benefit society by encouraging individuals to reach out to the people they live near and get to know them. This will allow people to interact with their neighbours and help them out if needed. This will create a sense of community and improve the residential areas.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

This project has made me think about how well I actually know my neighbours. I went from growing up in a country town and knowing my neighbours well to moving to an apartment in the city and barely seeing the people I live with. This has made me think about making contact with my neighbours, even if it means just saying hello or smiling.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

This design work will inspire a sense of community and help people to understand that it doesn't take much to start a conversation and be friendly.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

I intend to implement my work through posters and possibly flyers. It could be made into a large series of posters, each featuring a different person and their story. It will be placed around the city mainly, perhaps outside residential areas such as the entrance to a large apartment block.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

It could have an effect on the media. This project is more about bringing people together and allowing people to get to know each other
