Description of idea
Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the
festival outlines:
The idea of the design is to allude viewers to put more effort in their dialogue or communication. More than often society is taking communication for granted, just because it is so easy to do today. Therefore, the idea intends to push the idea of putting care and attention into our messages, specifically here, through handwriting.
What kind of communication approach do you use?
I used a typographic solution to form a half-brochure for this brief. The typographic elements used were formed through a combination of handwriting collages collected from various sources, personal handwriting, as well as digital text, mostly done in Photoshop.
What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of
your communication?
My communication could benefit society by serving as a reminder to fall back on meaningful communication. This small brochure hopes to remind people of this effort - to show a little more care; show a little more attention - when attempting to dialogue, to communicate. The effort could be unrefined or imperfect at times, but I believe those flaws are the things that make us what we are - human.
What did you personally learn from creating your submitted
work?
I learnt that dialogue is not an easy task. In order to answer this brief - in my opinion is a dialogue on its own - I have been thinking long and hard on how to get my intentions across. Noise and distractions could disrupt that process. At the end of the day, I realised that a dialogue’s intentions is the most important thing. Intentions reflect the effort and care put into the message one is trying to put across. If it is received well - great! If not, then the two sides need to continuously clarify their personal intentions. Dialogue has never been a one way street.
Why is your work, GOOD communication
WORK?
I believe that my work is good communication work. First and foremost, it is because my produced outcome has a clear objective. Secondly, it is good design because the supporting images serve to contrast the difference between the medium that we communicate with today. Finally, it is good design because of the form it is in. The message is really short and sweet. There is no reason to convolute the intentions with redundancy or extreme aesthetics.
Where and how do you intent do implement your
work?
I would implement my work in all public spaces possible. These include places such as restaurants, where people rather stare into their mobile devices than to talk to the person in front of them, or subway stations, where people get isolated in their personal media devices than to be sensitive to their surroundings and happenings. My communication is able to be relevant anywhere and anytime in society. Dialogue, in obvious forms or not, happens more frequent than one may actually think.
Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe
the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change
other media with your work-
how?)
No, my work has not an effect on other Media.
