Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

In today's society, we are consumed by a texting language and culture, one that is diminishing the prevalence of dialogue and replaces this intimate exchange with a group of small, meaningless images known as emojis. The idea behind my work is to get people to understand the difference between the two through a challenge I have created. The aim is to re-write the statement on the poster using nothing but emojis in order to get people involved with the re-creation of dialogue.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

I have created a series of posters to be used in high traffic public spaces such as tram/bus stops, shopping centres and particularly places where people have the chance to sit down and use their phone.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

Through my communication, I hope to bring awareness to the lack of dialogue and that it cannot be replaced by the use of emojis.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

I have learnt a lot about just how much we rely on things such as social media and other forms of technology based interaction in order to create what we think is dialogue, but in reality dialogue cannot be recreated through a screen.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

My work is good communication work as the challenge engages and involves the viewer and gets them to think about the concept of dialogue.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

I intend my work to be implemented as a campaign to be shown in many public spaces in order to reach a wide audience.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

My intervention has a big effect on digital media, in particular social media and the role it has on dialogue.
