visual communication practice
Description of idea
Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the
festival outlines:
My idea is to create a campaign directed at Melbourne train commuters. My goal is to create more overall communication on the train by creating funny posters that are directed at the passengers. The posters use a flowchart graph to question the passengers and gives them tips on how to talk to other passengers. Making it a less daunting experience. I have also created a set of 52 playing cards. One card is released every week for 52 weeks. At the end of collecting each of the cards you can carry the cards with you and play against other commuters on the train as you travel to work.
What kind of communication approach do you use?
My communication approach is through posters, an app and playing cards.
What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of
your communication?
The concrete benefits to the society are more conversations and a friendly train ride. My goal is to create an open train experience where people feel like talking to strangers on the train is a normal and healthy thing.
What did you personally learn from creating your submitted
work?
I learnt that trying to create dialogue in the environment is a hard thing to do.
Why is your work, GOOD communication
WORK?
I believe my work is good advertising design, as it is both different and engages the viewer.
Where and how do you intent do implement your
work?
I would like to implement my work on Melbourne Metro trains. There would also be posters on train stops and also a phone app that gives unusual tips and hints on how to talk to strangers.
Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe
the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change
other media with your work-
how?)
Hopefully my campaign will reduce the use of phones on public transport.
