visual communication practice
Description of idea
Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the
festival outlines:
Since coming to Australian to study, I have been asked several times if I am from India, just because of my skin colour. People judged even before they knew me. I was interested in creating dialogue among two individuals (one brown skinned) to be more "educated" of my cultural background. I wanted to show people not all brown skinned came from India.
What kind of communication approach do you use?
Posters, Billboards, Newspaper Ads, Badges
What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of
your communication?
The society will get to communicate with each other and even understand them better. It creates dialogue amongst each other to learn on their cultural background and ethnicity.
What did you personally learn from creating your submitted
work?
I got to know there was a huge majority of people who thought brown skinned came from India.
Why is your work, GOOD communication
WORK?
It`s because, it is trying to communicate the problem faced by many brown skinned who are not from India.
Where and how do you intent do implement your
work?
I planned to place my work around the city area where there would many people. They might be interested to learn that not all brown skinned come from India. I would also like to place it in the newspapers and create badges.By having my work in the newspapers, people will start talking to brown skinned people to get to know them more.
Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe
the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change
other media with your work-
how?)
No
