"I had to search the internet for Max Ernst to help me understand this. Very interesting."

"That's interesting to think about that social networks media can be the strongest tool for establishing change directed by people. Technology plays the part and the people are playing the game.
I wonder how it is possible to slow development and growth down in order to create more time to donate towards solutions instead of unnecessary materialistic upgrading. The only way is probably for human consciousness to have a major revolution, but what can create a big enough consciousness revolution that is not based on fear and negativity? There has already been a love revolution in the sixties in America but that was fueled by unsustainable legal/illegal drug usage, that seems basically like a lazy revolution; pot heads throwing slogans around. How can a new love revolution be created where everyone can be included, not just lazy people smoking weed and getting high. The major direction I support is to do with the ARTS and DESIGN, raw art and raw design that translate emotion and experiences that is not commercialised, in that people probably get a natural high from creating and sharing.
I believe meditation and mindfulness can help reduce the desires for a materialistic world but eastern traditions of meditation and mindfulness is moving into the western societies and other societies so slowly. If only the dominate religions of the world were not strangling so many people into one mindset, one direction of thinking. Just like multiculturalism in Australia for example, the conflict and differences of peoples language and skin colour etc are able to largely coexist peacefully, so why can't people start believing in two religions instead of just one? Or practice one religion and practice Buddhism philosophies as well so the mind changes into accepting there are other choices just as good or even better, that can peacefully coexist. The social conditioning and cultural conditioning is so hard to break free from or just break apart in order to experience some needed change/s."

"What now approach do you mean? The teachers and workshop makers are trying to use stuffs and gizmos or they are trying to use results and meaning and innovation out of void? I think you mean the second, and that the dirty garage is full of stuffs and gizmos?
I personally think the best way to teach and learn results and meaning and innovation out of void is by doing hand drawing/illustration/writing. All you need is some paper and a pencil, or wall and chalk, plus you don't even need hands, some people use their mouth or toes to hold the pencil. Drawing/illustration/writing with paper and pencil is probably the most versatile and simple method of communication ever created and developed through evolution. Then probably comes personal experiences that shape artists thinking the most to create originally.
Hmm, today, is society making people have less experiences but society is making people consume more experiences? Is this how the dirty garage is formed!?
Teachers and workshop makers probably do have a hard time getting young artists to think originally and to not keep a copying reproducing mentality way of making/creating that forms over time from all the vast amounts of information and resources now available; society making people consume more experiences."

"Through my experience on Memefest I think Memefest is an online social network where people do not use everyday like they do for FB. People use Memefest more for information sharing/discussion and project updates, instead of daily socialising. I got the impression after talking to a few people who do not use Memefest very much that they would be more likely to use and interact with Memefest if there was something to bring them back more regularly. Maybe on a fortnightly or monthly basis would be good. Because I think FB is their preferred communication method for everything. I also did not use Memefest for a long time because I was only interested in the yearly competition.
So if something interesting were encouraged to happen for an autonomous fortnightly and monthly basis, this would be a unique aspect that helps make Memefest more attractive to people to stay updated and interact more. It might be possible to make fortnightly and monthly actions on Memefest as normal as daily actions on FB.
Perhaps create a project space for people to update something they are interested in on a fortnightly and monthly basis. A space for their own online zine for themselves and to share with others, and collaborating. Print media is rapidly turning into online media."

"I saw the video/s and researched more in-depth about this incident around when it happened or very close soon after. I was searching for police brutality information and this video incident came up. But I did not find or know about the “Pepper Spraying Cop images” until now!
My thoughts of the Pepper Spraying Cop images are:
Activism
Collaborative grouping
Creative justice of shame and awareness
Satire images but also sadistic images
Power of the Internet community both responsible and irresponsible qualities
Confusing differences between the professional and the amateur image-makers because of the copy and paste method of the cop. Re-creating the cop to suit the theme like the Pokémon image can be seen as the professional image-maker? And copy and pasting the cop into the fishing boat jaws image can be seen as the amateur image-maker? The context potentially overrides the importance of image quality, so professional and amateur image-makers become equal. Perhaps the high quality images do better justice and the low quality images do not give much justice, or equal justice? Question of the ethics of public justice. In this circumstance participation of image making is of greater value than perfection or commercial perfection of the final image.
Luke Robertson described context for this in an accurate way. The university protest unnecessary pepper spraying context is important for the Pepper Spraying Cop images to reap full impact.
But I think there is a big picture here, which is the police brutality context. Pepper Spraying Cop images are not just related to this one incident. The images can critique on more police brutality situations as well (indirectly), but an open mind and/or knowledgeable mind is required to understand why. The exact image of the cop does ground it to the university incident (directly) if you already know about it. But overall it is an image of a cop with pepper spray.
The potential problem is if people find the Pepper Spraying Cop images funny which is a sadistic quality due to the images purpose. (What are the images true purpose?) However because of the relatively intentional fake image appearances/qualities it is more satire material. The satire removes the sadistic? But it strongly depends on the individual’s perception of satire and sadistic images. However the blur between satire and sadistic is very close together for the Pepper Spraying Cop images.
To the very most extreme conclusion the method of Pepper Spraying Cop images created active thoughts of violence in every participant in an effort to create public justice. Using violence to fight violence is a bad method as history can tell us all to often about this…"

"I watched a thought-provoking discussion yesterday about Australian culture dialogue, on the TV on ABC, Big Ideas program. From wordstorm 2014 May 29 - June 1 top end writers' festival. But I am not sure where to view it again...
Called 'Divide and Conquer' "Annette Shun Wah speaks with Alexis Wright, Dr. Philip McLaren, Christos Tsiolkas, and Teresa Crea to discuss why there has not been an open dialogue between non-Anglo migrants and Indigenous Australians. Has this been instrumental in maintaining a ghetto mentality and ensuring colonial culture prevails?" http://wordstorm.org.au/category/program/panel-sessions/"

"I really like the dialogue theme this year. Especially because I am really interested in the creative dialogue theme at the moment!"
