Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

I have chosen to focus on over-production of food and its adverse effects on farmers and the environment, and by extension consumers. The work stresses the importance of growing your own food and buying local produce (where available), by using bright, inviting images of home-grown food.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

I like to use a direct approach, using bright colours and condensed explanatory text to reach viewers.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

My communication will encourage people to think about what they're eating, and to consider the health and environmental benefits of fresh, locally grown food.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

In creating this, I learned that pomegranates when grown on your own property are far better than any a supermarket could ship in. I also learned how flawed our current system of overproduction really is, making me reconsider where I obtain the fruit and vegetables I eat.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

My work gets its message across by making people think. Comparing food overproduction to cloning makes a comparison in people's minds, making them more likely to absorb the message, and to consider what they're really buying.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

I am implementing my work by showing the video, either by projection or on a small portable system, near supermarkets, hoping to catch people before they enter.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

My intervention has not yet had an effect on other media, but hopefully in future...
