Description of idea
Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:
True the question ¿Who do you feed with the food you eat? There is a main concept and various ideas developing in this work:
First of all the sentence of the question is made in words cuts from different logos of multinationals companies, with this idea I want to evidence who are responsibles about food economy knowadays.
Sencond,, the sentence is on top of a typical crockery used by peasant in Colombia, this plate has been used for years, even today, because it is a good price and very resistant due to its material. The idea about use this crockery is because I considere there are to many roots and food traditions lost knowadays due to the food economy. With this idea i want to evidence who are taking advantage of our agriculture, economy and trade: multinationals who are destroying the work in country size, farmers work and peasants.
Is important as well, enphasize about the sentences, due to it make us thing not only about ¿Who is taking advantage about the food economy?, but also it make us thing about ¿ What kind of food I am eating? , ¿I am really fed with the kind of food I am eating?
True the question ¿Who do you feed with the food you eat?. The questions marks are made of corn seeds as a metaphore and protest about the uncertain fate of the agricultures, farmers, and country size people. The idea about this question marks done of this seeds is to make emphasis about ¿how uncertain is the job for farmers and country size people ?
Finally, the words used in the sentences are coming from the logos of: Mc Donalds, Tyson, Heinz, Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Pizza Hut, Bimbo, Dole, Kentucky fried chicken. Every single word has being cut with the purpose of leaving smalls parts of the logo visible.
What kind of communication approach do you use?
The kind of communication I approach to use is a message on which readers can thing and reflects about who has the monopoly of food economy, also to make readers thing about them own position. It is not only a critical message but also has the purpose of raising aware.
What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?
The concrete benefits to the society with my communication is to be aware about who is win with the products we are buying.
What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?
After I research and check most of the videos and documents MEMEFEST post in the web, also, with some research I did by my own, I realize there is to many issues to consider around production, distribution and consumption of food. Food is a needs in our lives and there is many multinationals taking advantage of this.
Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?
Because is a work with a straight question to readers supported by graphics items such a words cuts from multinationals logos and a traditional country size plate. This question is a message that makes a metaphor with typography and objects that evidence a contemporary bad situation. The reason about to make a question, is good because this kind of text go to the brain of people and make themselves thing about a particular situation, on which some how we all are involved. It is important to realize that if we don’t do something we are as well guilty.
Where and how do you intent do implement your work?
Where: true the web sizes as a digital image, or if it is printed in places were people can get the message as street walls, bus stop, schools walls, university wall, magazines, newspapers, so on….
How? I will do as much as I can, not only with this particular graphic work, but also with my attitude about food, This material is important but also the attitude.
