Subfield description

my sound and installation work is realized in many forms and media, and is produced/presented and exhibited in museums (e.g. Weserburg Museum, Bremen), at international festivals (e.g Steirischer Herbst, Graz), and galleries (e.g. L&M Arts Los Angeles).

Check out the Radical intimacies: dialogue in our times 2014 outlines of Memefest Friendly competition.

Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

The question if dialogue works presumes lots of things; but perhaps at its most fundamental level it asks how successfully has it brought adversaries and antagonists to reasonably seek means of coexistence or solve problems. With conflicts everywhere around the globe, stoked by the same leaders who either engage in dialogue (albeit to varying degrees of self and/or national and commercial interests) or reject it, dialogue is clearly an untrustworthy means to seeking world peace and ending world hunger.

As an artist/activist, these concerns may be addressed differently. By devising performances in which “normal” people participate, works of art can also insinuate social models to achieve effects which dialogue, for example, cannot.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

Dérive

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

I believe that by overcoming our various senses of privilege and entitlement (individual and/or communal), and learn to share at the most basic levels, people begin to communicate with spontaneity. Often the catalyst for such things are impossible because the prevailing order has few and unimaginative tools for social cohesion. The same tools, in fact, are used by people and powers even when they disagree; this is a large part of the problem. Their tools are designed for pretend dialogue; real dialogue may in fact work, but we don't have that.

My approach combines different modalities to surprise, inspire discovery and encourage play. And finally, opportunities to connect on personal and communal levels, which integrate rather than segregate. It's fun and beneficial.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

Patience.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

Everyone benefits — entire city populations at a time — with little to lose.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

Whereever I am invited. I would work with non-profit, commercial and political institutions to create a city-wide event based on the "chich-pease" document uploaded and web link.

I believe this to be a simple but serious model.

Would love to do it in Ferguson.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

I have not yet implemented it.
