Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

While browsing photos showcasing the iPhone (and its impending new release), it became clear that the conversation surrounding such pictures were lacking in depth and substance. Though the theme claims that "dialogue" is the solution to many of the problems of our times, it is important to note that this is only true of constructive dialogue (that seems to be missing in many online social settings). Specifically, in the case of any picture of an iPhone, many comments focused on its brand, Apple, rather than facilitating a dialogue intent on the product being shown. Breaking apart the parts of the iPhone in the work, the concept was to emphasize this lack of focus on the product and its deconstruction into nothing more than its brand name.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

Creating a visual poster, the idea was to approach this concept by fusing imagery with some of the comments found on a photo of an iPhone (and consequent revelations).

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

A benefit to society because of this communication is awareness; by acknowledging the irony (and lack of meaning) of our online dialogue, one can hopefully improve and offer more constructive comments the next time an opportunity arises.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

Aside from some technical skills in the creation of the work, I myself became aware of some of the failures in online social dialogue. Wanting to share these realizations is evident in my work.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

By creating a visually compelling graphic poster, it entices viewers to look closer and understand the message I am attempting to convey. Being memorable and having impact is what makes this work an example of "good communication."

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

I intend to implement this work on a social network, Facebook, to attempt to start a conversation concerning certain revelations mentioned [in the poster].

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

Not yet.
