Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

The concept is to use the physical space of a city's primary centres of learning, i.e. Universities and Libraries, to create a platform for students to create dialogue with their fellow students. Ultimately it is not about creating a specific dialogue but about creating a campaign that inspires young minds to engage with the process of learning and forming their own opinions.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

Video painting (a form of projection whereby a computer program tracks electronic paint rollers, thus creating an illusion that a projected image is being painted onto a surface) This is ideal as it utilises the very facade of our physical world as the canvas, reminiscent of an already culturally significant and appreciated form of art in graffiti, without creating any physical damage to private or public property.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

It benefits young minds as it cultivates an engaging and interactive campaign that inspires people to find their own opinions in this information heavy, outcome fixated world.

It benefits the learning institutions by giving them a way to strengthen their relationship with their students allowing for a much more intimate dialogue to inform their interactions.

Both of which create a framework for an ongoing, positive growth of the young minds who will eventually be the creators of our future.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

It made me acknowledge how easy it is to become complacent with this modern world. It made me understand how I personally allow my own perceptions to justify a lack of engagement with the people and places I pass everyday because it's so easy to get sucked into what people tell us, without actually defining my own perception by looking at all sides of an issue.

This is a problem that pervades much of modern society because we spend so much of our time being bombarded by superfluous messages and hidden agendas that we become mistrusting and unengaged to the possibility of forming new dialogues.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

It is good communication work because it fundamentally addresses the way we relate to the world, not by pushing one perception onto others, but by giving people a reason to question their surroundings. It strives to inspire curiosity and engagement by giving likeminded people a physical forum to interact and talk to each other, born first from the most intimate of dialogue; the dialogue we have with ourselves about our own perceptions.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

The campaign would play out on the facades of a cities primary learning facilities i.e. Universities and Libraries. It would begin in Melbourne but has the capacity to exist in any city or any country, anywhere in the world. It would exist with the active involvement of these institutions which would again strengthen the effects of the dialogue.
