Description of idea
Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:
There will be many benefits to society from this communication piece, as it will improve the experience of traveling on public transport for all involved. It will create a place where dialogue is encouraged, supported and is far more respectful and polite.
What kind of communication approach do you use?
This campaign focuses on using booklet handouts at a high volume, as well as supporting posters and an app to gain further attention and emphasise the importance of better dialogue on public transport.
What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?
Not only will the regular users of public transport notice a positive difference, it may encourage others who don’t use it often and have been previously discouraged to try it again and use it more frequently. This will in turn have a positive impact on many other areas, including the roads, as there would be fewer drivers in peak hour, reducing congestion and pollution caused by driving.
What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?
I feel that my work targets the intended market in a way that will make them take notice and provoke thoughts, hopefully making them more aware of their actions on public transport and whether they could help to create a better experience. Though submitting this I learnt how best to achieve this.
Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?
From submitting this design work I was able to focus more on the ideas of advertising, and actually gain more insight into good and bad advertising, and the most effective forms, before even starting the designs. I feel this level of research helped me to create a stronger outcome and good advertising design work, as it incorporates what was learnt.
Where and how do you intent do implement your work?
The work is intended to be implemented at all train stations on Melbourne, with a heavy emphasis on the busy inner city stations. The booklets will be handed out to every person as the enter the station, while the posters would be displayed around the station, and the app can be used on the journey, creating a space that reflects the campaign everywhere, not going unnoticed by anyone.
Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)
