Description of idea
Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:
The idea for my design was to respond the assignment I was given. The assignment my studio class was given was to interpret information from one of a number of articles. This illustration would compile other images and illustrate not only the concept of the article but pleasure, as described by the given outlines of this festival.
What kind of communication approach do you use?
In my illustration I use visual narrative and metaphor to explain the ideas of the article, but by using portraits of people who are smiling I am able to relate the idea of pleasure to what the article was speaking about.
What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?
The benefit to society of my communication is that they are able to easier understand how science and gaming are merging by seeing a very simple metaphor in my illustration.
What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?
While creating this illustration I was able to gain experience in programs like photoshop, but also learning the challenges of compiling found images into a composition that I desire to create.
Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?
My work is good communication because it clearly describes the purpose of the article an illustrates how different and new the concepts are within it.
Where and how do you intent do implement your work?
This work was submitted as an assignment for an academic design studio and is submitted here.
Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)
The concepts illustrated in this work were originally presented in an article in "The New Yorker's" online magazine, which told how gamers are participating in citizen science created by scientists who want to use games and gamers to do research.
