Description of idea
Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:
My idea was inspired by a scientific article on how the brain processes pleasure, particularly in regards to food. This article claims that the sensation of pleasure holds a place of power and intense persuasion within the human mind. In this image, a woman is shown enjoying a cup of coffee in an unusual and rather intimate way--instead of taking the coffee in, she is contained by it, presenting the source of pleasure--the coffee--as dominant and, in a way, overpowering. This image references the way that our culture allows itself to be overwhelmed by pleasure.
What kind of communication approach do you use?
This image is a visual metaphor that relates the cup of coffee to a hot tub or warm bath.
What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?
This piece could benefit society by causing people to reconsider pleasure and how much it dominates their lives. Is this a good thing?
What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?
I learned how to come up with better strategies for ideation so that my work can be both interesting and meaningful.
Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?
I believe so. The image is interesting and catches the eye. It is easy to read and understand.
Where and how do you intent do implement your work?
This work was created as an assignment in one of my graphic design courses and will be used for my personal design portfolio.
Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)
No.
