Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

My work is centered around the idea of pleasure and its relationship to food, more specifically sweets and the attachment of children to them.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

I chose to communicate my idea through the use of visual metaphor and juxtaposition.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

This communication brings to light issues surrounding child obesity and the availability and consumption of healthier foods versus heavily processed or high in sugar foods.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

I discovered interesting ways to communicate a singular idea through the use of image appropriation onto a target object or scene through the use of metaphor.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

I think my work is good communication because its message is clear, yet not explicit. Viewers may still find different levels of understanding and impose their own meaning onto the imagery.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

This work was for an assignment focused around visual strategies and how they could be utilized to explore the theme of 'pleasure'.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

No

Dear Marcie, your intervention needs to have effects on other media, starting from kindergartens, schools, roads. Your project looks to the works of Banksy. The pleasure of Treats can not remain on the digital screen, must find the channel to take to the streets, in everyday life. Pedagogy is under attack by multinationals of the “sweet".
Once the teachers were saying "do not take candy from strangers", the teachers today teach in "knowing how to ask the candy to strangers." We are still able to reverse the sensitivity of children, ie future planetary consumers, as it should be the pleasure of the cake? In this regard helps us the thought of Daniel Dennett that at a conference in TED.com says: “Our sweet tooth is basically an evolved sugar detector, because sugar is high energy, and it’s just been wired up to the preferer, to put it very crudely, and that’s why we like sugar. Honey is sweet because we like it, not "we like it because honey is sweet." There’s nothing intrinsically sweet about honey. If you looked at glucose molecules till you were blind, you wouldn’t see why they tasted sweet. You have to look in our brains to understand why they’re sweet. So if you think first there was sweetness, and then we evolved to like sweetness, you’ve got it backwards; that’s just wrong. It’s the other way round. Sweetness was born with the wiring which evolved.”
