Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

Before being forced, by my Critical Discourse professor, to participate in the Memefest’s annual contest, the word debt had never crossed my mind. Now, out of the blue, I had to design something that will awaken other people’s awareness, when I myself am not aware of the concept. This was truly a challenge, but it gave me an insight in the huge controversy of debt, and its consequences.
My concept was to wake people up and show them how debt can cause the destruction of an entire society.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

I used a still-image. Peronally, I find it the best method of conveing a message. Some poeple are to eager to watch a moving-work, and might stop it before the message has been communicated. An image, however, send the message immedietly

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

My poster allows people to take a second look. At first, they will not understand why there are balls in different colors, however, after taking a second look it will all clear up. The red ball represents the debt, and the last one is a depiction of our planet. It allows people to think about the global consequences of debt.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

Personally, I have always tried to avoid debt due to the fact that it will end up costing me more than the value of the item I am about to buy on credit. After signing up for the contest, I realized that there are people who take loans in order to pay off their other loans which are about to expire. An evil circle is what it is. A circle I don’t wish anyone will ever fall into.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

Although it requires someone to be focused when viewing it, it allows people to think. What is it they are seeing, and how does, or will, it ever relate to them. The image makes people realize that their choices and actions can cause serious trouble in the future. It has a message, and the message is clear.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

All around the world. Even in places where debt is not an issue. Debt is an evil circle, if one falls into it, they will drag other with them too.
It can be placed anywhere. Metro stations, airports, malls, newspapers, as long as there are people passing by it; it has served its purpose.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

No, not yet.
