Description of idea
Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:
When we look at debt, its a never ending loop. The over flow of debt in someone's life could be extremely overwhelming and messy at the end of it.
In my piece, I have shown a person's life being a glass, overflowing with debt. This debt is being poured down by other glasses, the banks (hence the labels). When the glass becomes full, it becomes uncontrollable. I added the statement "Empty your glass" to raise people's awareness to stay away from debt before its too late. Empty the debt.
What kind of communication approach do you use?
My approach is using the metaphor of the life being a glass. It is direct and powerful, could be understood by anyone, at any age, because any being should be familiar with debt and its consequences. The reason for its "sketchy-ness" is to give the effect and the understanding of Debt for any age, mainly because kids need to know about it. They need to grow up knowing what debt is and what it could lead to, so they'll be motivated to study/work for a bigger yet better "debt-free" future.
What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?
My concrete benefits to the society is raising their awareness. Show them a literal metaphor that would break the habit of having debts. Its not easy.
What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?
I'm a victim of debt, my family were in debt before i even knew it. Their debt was so high they had to leave the country and leave me alone here. I have managed my life, but if anything i learnt through this is that debt is a misery, and no one should pass through what i passed. I've learnt through my work that now i have a bigger look at debt & life. Helped me understand what it could do to someones life. I wish I knew more about debt as a child then when it hit me across the face when it was too late for my family. Now people can see it without having to pass through what I passed through.
Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?
Because its simple, straightforward, and powerful. Could be understood by all ages, and communicates the idea. Its also sketchy which makes it natural to the viewers mind, thus, convincing them more.
Where and how do you intent do implement your work?
I would implement my work in centers, where families are able to see it and understand it, at least leaving a message in their head that could later on hit them.
Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)
I have made this work for this competition, therefore, it hasn't been introduced to any other media.
