Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

My idea focuses on the worldwide impact of debt. The artwork reflects the increasingly growing gap between the rich and the poor. I used the layout of a pictorial graph with human figures, typically used in data illustrations, and gave it a satirical twist. I chose to leave a single figure in the "rich" section to symbolize the minority that hold power to a majority of the world's resources. The falling figures in the middle represent the disappearing middle class, falling to the ever-growing pool of the poor.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

I used a still image to portray my work because I feel like I can best communicate my ideas through this method.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

I hope the tagline "FIGHT BACK" provokes the audience in discussing this matter with others around them. And for those who do not know much about the subject, I want the image to encourage them to learn more on the subject on their own. Either way, the benefits to the society that my communication would give is to create awareness of the subject and encourage people to speak up.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

I learned a great deal about the subject of debt from creating my work, specifically from the research done in the brainstorming stage of my process. Prior to this project, my knowledge of the subject was very limited. I was not aware of the extent of the problem. I had little interest in learning more about the subject as I felt that it does not affect me. I couldn't have been more wrong. This project opened my eyes to the reality of the situation.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

My work is considered good communication work because it engages the audience as it has enough visual stimulation while being straight to the point. The tagline and accompanied text directly tells viewers what the subject of the work is as it is.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

I want to implement my work as posters and flyers on the streets to grab the attention of pedestrians.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

No.
